What is Tai Chi?

Jackie Driscoll is a qualified  instructor from Dreaming Dragon School of Martial Arts with over 18 years of experience and continues to train under the tuition of Master Huang Ping (7th Duan).

Tai Chi or Taiji Quan is best know for its slow movements that connect together to create one continuous form, often seen performed in parks in China. Tai Chi is a martial art, a form of self defense based on the art of yielding and sticking rather than using force to oppose force.

There are many different forms today and beginners can start with short forms moving onto more advanced longer forms and competition forms.

There are also many different styles of Tai Chi but they are usually grouped into families, the four main being Chen, Yang, Wu and Sun.

Tai Chi can teach you how to co-ordinate your body, relax your muscles, strengthen your core and legs and improve posture and balance.

Tai Chi can also increase your energy levels, relieve stress, increase focus and cultivate a sense of calmness and well being. As a weight bearing exercise it is ideal for all ages.

By practicing Tai Chi you learn the best possible way in which to move your body so that your energy flows freely.
